These tacky matching outfits would get ridiculed to shreds in the street today. There are only so many belted tank tops and leopard onesies a person can tolerate, and the 1970s pushed the boundaries of this limit, for sure.

How whipped would a man have to be to dress like that?
what the …
For all your cult clothing needs….
I’m particularly taken with Mr Afghan and his hound!
I never saw one couple wearing these crochet outfits..ever
Im worried about the sheep……
These are hilarious.
No way do these outfits represent the fashions of the seventies. I was there, in London, New York & Paris. These are mostly fashion show extremes.
I’m afraid to admit that some of my high school compatriots wore a few of these outfits. Not in matching, but these were there. Ugh. I am haunted . . .
this should be banned by international law
Only people on the East coast dressed like that back in those days…
I’m uncomfortable…
and in thirty – forty years you will look back at today`s attire and laugh
The scary truth here being displayed so clearly is that we humans ALL are so caught up with twisted group think crap that here now at this time period we are so tuned into whatever the going THING happens to be and 50 years from now the younger generation will look back on our styles as outlandish. You older folk who know how to operate a computer today are looking at these styles and you have to admit you wore that crap back then. Just sayin.
Nah… The 1970’s was indeed the worst for fashion. There’s still some 1950’s and 1960’s clothes that still look cool today. What worst is that I still have clothes leftover from around 1975.
I have to admit, being from the east coast, I did see many of these fashions worn. Mostly at night clubs. Everybody was looking fly back in the day with flare in their jeans and hair. LOL
Yeah, this stuff was out there. You didn’t normally see it on the streets all the time, but in the Disco clubs? Absolutely! Somewhere I have a photo of myself with my mutton chop sideburns, Angel Flight mega-collar shirt and plaid, skin tight pants (with cuffs) and platform shoes. And yes, that’s why I’m “anonymous.”
Most of these are pictures from sewing, knitting or crochet patterns. That means that people not only wore this, but went to the trouble to make it.
@Dood – The 80s were no better. All that neon!
Fantabulous!
