Hilariously Bad Men’s Hairstyles of The 1970s

Men’s hair in the 1970s was a joy to behold. Hairstyling and grooming was no longer simply for women – hair products were now marketed to men, and many happily used them. Mustaches and mutton chops were in, even fake facial hair was worn and accepted. It was a hairy decade!

  6. The one with five guys is like a time-lapse of the wolf man when the full moon comes out.

  7. Way back when, stylists used to subscribe to books or magazines for the trade. They usually had a number of avant garde styles that could be copied or just used as inspiration. A lot of the photos in this article seem like they’re from those trade journals. I used to love reading them along with the makeup trade journals.

  8. Having lived through it, I would say most of these are speculative designs by hair stylists not seen in the wild.

  9. it is not about haircut ,but about hair dressers how did they ruin this people …and this demands effort !

  10. The issue with the 70’s is most hair styles weren’t all that short. It’s extremely hard to cater a hair style that’s so limited to the people it works for. The 80’s for example had more variety, but the big hair didn’t look good on everyone that had that style. IMO by the 90’s to this day a good hair stylist should have a good idea of what hair style works best with a person’s face, amount of hair they have and one to fit their image best compared to the 70’s.

  11. I was a hairdresser in the 70s most of the styles in these photos have been done by a barber because they’re razor cuts mostly . I had a glut of women wanting the halo style myself included 😂 my old fashioned boss always did one updo that looked just like a walnut whip . Don’t get me started on perms
