There are four types of reactions: people going ‘I’m so pissed that I was fooled because I thought I was the smartest person ever – oh what a waste of my time!’ (wankers who don’t see how funny it is); people going ‘I know this is a real thing with real optical illusions but some of them don’t make sense’ (idiots); people going ‘I’m starting to think that this isn’t as real as it seems and I the only person in the world who thinks this’ (idiots who think they’re smart); and people pretending to see the illusions because they didn’t understand any and they want to be part of it (which is a million times funnier because obviously I know it’s all a joke so their lie is painfully clear). There are a few legends out there who actually understood it and said something funny themselves. This is genuinely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen online. I didn’t even consider that it was some sort of prank because it was obvious that it was a joke straight away (no one can keep their eyes open for 5 minutes to stare at a red dot). An absolutely brilliant satire on all those optical illusions you see online. An I know not everything has to have some deeper meaning – it was also just hilarious in its irreverence. My personal favourite was the two tables one. I’d actually seen the proper one online before and spent five minutes trying to figure out how they were the same size, so I thought then just saying ‘Annoyingly, the table on the right has an extra leg. Can you see it?’ was pure genius.
