Auto Mechanics Recreate Renaissance Paintings

Photographer Freddy Fabris had always wanted to pay homage to the Renaissance masters with his photos in some way, but he wasn’t sure how until he stumbled upon an auto-mechanic shop in the Midwest. This led to a brilliant series of funny portraits with auto mechanics.

Love it! It’s nice to see that men do think about other things and have a sense of humor and taste 😁. The lighting is perfect and each man fits to a T. Can’t wait to see what’s next

Pure awesomeness! I would hope each participant got copies for themselves. They would make a great gift to their children/grandchildren.

Love it! I have to admit I didn’t reconise some of them. Some of them I said, ‘oh yeah, I’ve seen that” and others were dead on. Keep it up, they are worth it!

What starts as a joke ends up conferring dignity on a group of hardworking people and elevating them. Excellent work and excellent concept.

Creative, inspiring work. I think the masters saw every day events as well as sacred ones with the same eye that captured the essence of realities and aspirations.

Where are the women? Pretty sure there are at least a few women in this field of work. The photos are great, but it would also be nice to show a photo of the original next to the remade piece for those of us who are idiots about the renaissance period.

Would like to have seen the original as a comparison.

A very clever way to interpret famous art works. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
They are the cleanest mechanics I have ever come across. The still lives are excellent.

Should set these up as a calendar and then sell them for their favorite charity. Awesome!

Not all are rennasaince. I recognize some Flemish and Dutch masters in there too!

I think it took an artist’s eye to see what you developed. Wonderfully composed. It is on the minds of many to educate to the trades. These images belong in counselors areas in schools and welding, automotive and plumbing trades classrooms.

  25. Prince of Darkness June 24, 2019

Every bit as artistic as the originals.

The lighting, the composition, the colors…wow. These ARE masterpiece works. Not only are the entertaining for humor value but the images are actually beautiful. What a great group of sporting fellows to be willing to pose. This lends a new perspective to the title, Master Mechanic. Thank you so much. Sharing the hell out of this.
