Accidentally Brilliant Photos by Edas Wong

There’s a saying that if you let a monkey write random stuff, eventually it will write Shakespeare’s Hamlet. If you transfer the analogy to photography, it would be something like this: if you see tons of random stuff, you’ll eventually see something that might look intentional, sublime, and even brilliant. While most photographers rely on perfect planning of their shots, Edas Wong just trust his luck and instinct. He just roams the streets and tries to find something that might catch his eye. These images are not accidental, actually, they just look like it, which is true art. You must have patience, fantasy (!!), and a very good instinct to catch all of those opportunities.

The sleeping woman one looks like it might have a double.

(Lady in the poster above says “shh”, but Golgo there doesn’t appear to have a silencer!)

This has nothing to do with luck. The analogy with monkeys eventually typing Hamlet is totally out of place here – because that will never happen since monkeys have no idea what they are doing and in which direction to focus their efforts – this photographer though knows exactly where to look, how to position himself, when to wait, and most importantly he knows and sees when the moment to make the shot has come.
    Absolutely great photos!!!
