Auto Mechanics Recreate Renaissance Paintings

Photographer Freddy Fabris had always wanted to pay homage to the Renaissance masters with his photos in some way, but he wasn’t sure how until he stumbled upon an auto-mechanic shop in the Midwest. This led to a brilliant series of funny portraits with auto mechanics.

Really great work! The lighting and composition of each image is so impressive. Are high-res images for sale?

Some of those photos make no sense.
I person had a clean coat, and another showed tools grouped together with no association .

What a release of good endorphins! Such fun. These seem to be staged from real paintings, but would love to see the originals that they resemble to be available to see next to the pictures of the mechanics….Superb fun and ingenuity!

Oh my gosh! Too funny, released lots of endorphins.
Although I did recognize some of the poses, I agree with the comment, the originals should be side by side. Got to pass this on. Thanks

    These are brilliant!

  36. Anonymous April 3, 2020

It would be funnier if we could see the painting they were recreating. Pete, for example, could be just someone sitting in an outhouse using a Sears catalog.

  37. Leeann April 4, 2020

Beautiful – mechanics should feel proud – they look fabulous!

  38. MiaHessMusic April 4, 2020

Beautifully done! I would have loved to have seen the original painting side by side but I think I know what a lot of these were based on. Beautifully done! Great lighting and composition. I loved the way these made the men look quite handsome too@

  39. The AMPICO April 4, 2020

No need for a comparison painting when each image is as beautifully created as these are. They stand on their own quality as independent works of art.

  40. Anonymous April 4, 2020

They are beautiful photos in their own right but for those of us who are relative art ignoramuses, can anyone help identify the originals? I recognize the Sistine Chapel and the Last Supper, but the rest….?

  41. quirky writer April 4, 2020

The lighting and artistry here is stupendous!

  42. Joyce k April 4, 2020
