Some of these artists could only do one face.

A lot of these look like the swords/knives have been drawn in later by another artist.

Bad artists and painters being influenced to show stoicism in death because it advances the word of God (all gods).

Hi, it’s me, “The Phantom.” Let’s get back to lame human rights and “Geneva Act” and UN. They’re all lousy. Lousy, I tell ya. We need to get back to the days where you could execute hundreds of Saracens for sitting on the Holy Land and be declared a saint. And then get stabbed while smiling. Them’s were the days. These days when you go around trying to mow down people in a church, it’s all “GENEVA ACT!”

    Maybe the swords are metaphors.

where is the 1st one from

Priest with the knife in his head is St. Peter of Verona, the woman with the sword through her neck is St. Lucy, and the bishop with the four soldiers stabbing him in the head while he is kneeling at prayer is St. Thomas a Becket.

Not 100% sure on the rest.

The first one is Reinmar von Brennenberg. Been trying to find the source for months and just did. :)

Perhaps it is a celebration of the person, and showing the manner in which they died. Spanning time. Like dude was a pleasant chap, but he got stabbed.
