Jigsaw puzzle is simply a play on words…
    “Please join us” 🙂

It was recently National Puzzle Day. Our local libraries had Word Search, Jigsaw, etc available.

My favorite is the “self check-out.” I wish more grocery stores would do this.

The “I don’t remember the title but the book is red is a variation on the library question every librarian has heard, and which Emilio Estevez used in his new movie “The public”. (Which is terrific, by the way). “I don’t remember the author, or the title, but it was blue, and on the top shelf. Can you find it for me?”

Seen at our local library in the young adult section: a photo of Tom Hiddleston in full Loki regalia saying “KNEEL! Some of the best books are on the bottom shelf.”

Love these! We have a used bookstore that also sells puzzles; there is always one out on a table for people to work on. It’s especially great because it’s in an antique/craft mall so something for kids or husbands to do!

Whilst working in a library in Greystones, Wicklow, Ireland, I was asked “what days are the bins collected?” another time I was asked for ” the book the lady on the LATE LATE SHOW was talking about”?

In my elementary school library I had an arm that showed up in various places. Hanging out of a filing cabinet drawer, hanging from the ceiling over the circulation desk, etc. A huge spider that when I clapped my hands it crawled down to the bookshelf top and than slowly made its way back up to its web. Both assistants I had were fun loving people also! The students loved it!

  35. Anonymous February 2, 2019

How I have enjoyed all the humor you have shared with us in and about libraries…..did you also know that it’s a great place to check out a book and read it? Libraries are the backbone of any community.

  36. Anonymous February 2, 2019

Ditto to this: I love librarians. I sleep with one.

  37. Anonymous February 2, 2019

I love spending time in libraries and always take out too many books!!!

  38. Anonymous February 3, 2019

I was very much impressed when one of my primary school teachers announced that it only took two books to form a library. I also took the advice to read quite seriously. As a result, I started my own private library from age 10 and I’ve never looked back since then.

  39. Anonymous February 3, 2019

National Library Day will feature two minutes talking to commemorate dead librarians.
